On March 24, 2026, a series of online lectures by Professor Jörg Felmeden, Head of the Department of Integrated Regional Water Resources Management at the Technical University of Ostwestfalen-Lippe (Germany), began at the Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

During the lectures, the professor presented modern principles of stormwater management and preservation of the local water balance. He focused on integrated urban drainage systems that take into account hydrological, environmental and economic aspects, and also demonstrated examples of infiltration structures, green roofs, and rainwater collection and reuse systems. During practical classes, student architects presented the concept of their solutions, on the basis of which FISE students will develop engineering systems for the reconstruction of the school.

This collaboration took place thanks to the participation of students of the FISE and the Faculty of Architecture together with German colleagues and representatives of other Ukrainian universities in the Makarov restoration project. Students of the G19 “Construction and Civil Engineering” specialty of the educational and scientific program “Building and Architectural Information Modeling, BIM Process Management” and the OP “Water Supply and Sewerage” had the opportunity to get acquainted online with innovative solutions that are already used in Germany and other European countries, and to discuss the prospects for their adaptation to Ukrainian conditions. The lectures were held in a lively atmosphere, contributed to the expansion of the professional worldview of students and became an important step in the development of international educational and scientific ties of the KNUBA, and practical classes provided experience in joint practical work in a cloud environment to create an information model of a school building.
